Dr. Cathy J. Randall joins board leadership
Are you ready to use your voice for women?!
The 2020 Regular Session of the Alabama Legislature officially kicked off today, Tuesday, February 4!
We continue to combine the power of philanthropy with advocacy in order to have a more holistic impact for women. Last year, The Women’s Fund of Greater Birmingham made the deliberate decision to formally engage in state-level advocacy and create a comprehensive, long-term vision for common sense public policy opportunities that aim to dismantle barriers to women’s economic opportunity—and we are excited to continue this in 2020.
We expect this session to be jam-packed with legislation on a myriad of issues including prison reform and the lottery. Of course, The Women’s Fund will be in Montgomery every week so you don’t have to! We’ll be meeting with lawmakers and speaking out about issues critical to women’s economic opportunity.
Here are a few ways you can get involved during the 2020 Legislative Session:
The 2019 session was full of momentum and major wins, including the passage of the Clarke-Figures Equal Pay Act and a state appropriation to scale community college pathways for women to in-demand jobs. With your help, we can build on last year’s success.
We are energized and ready to work for all women in Alabama. Join us!
