Why I Give

Brooke Tanner Battle and Family

It’s simple, really. We give because it is the right thing to do. We give to The Women’s Fund because it will make a difference! My husband and I choose to give to The Women’s Fund because we want Birmingham to be a strong community. Simply put, we believe that the health of a community is determined by its women and girls. Almost every issue that cripples this community (health, education, economic status) starts with the mother. If we can strengthen her health, education, and economic status, she will invest that knowledge in her children. A gift to The Women’s Fund is an investment that will ripple through each generation beyond the grant recipient. The dollar given today multiplies. We give to The Women’s Fund because it’s fun. Few agencies captivate our imagination and the power of collective giving like this group. The Women’s Fund has accomplished so much with very little…just imagine what it might do with a lot! And, of course, we give to The Women’s Fund for our daughters. We hope that our dollars and hard work today will help create a thriving community for them tomorrow.

I believe that as a woman, I have a responsibility to use my advantages for the betterment of my sisters and daughters. I also believe that when you fund the norm, you are not funding Norma. I give to TWF because they are my venture capital investor in the future life of Norma, the women and girls of our community. TWF identifies, investigates, and funds the innovative programs of our community organizations that provide lasting solutions to critical issues, such as violence, exploitation, and poverty, all that uniquely affect women and girls.
